Mary Rose

Mary Rose

an English rose by David Austin

Mary Rose produces many medium pink blooms all season long. She is one of the earliest to bloom and the last one to quit (even blooming after the first frost). She is also one of the hardiest English Roses.

The bush in my garden is an own root plant which was planted in the spring of 1994. It grew from a 6 inch stick to 3 feet that summer, and bloomed the whole time. There was very little winter die back the spring of 1995, and now the plant is about 4 feet tall and getting dense.

Mary Rose has an old rose scent, which I found comes out well when the bloom is placed in a rose bowl inside a warm house.

She has been a good producer of sports, which are definitely on my wish list: Winchester Cathedral which is white and Redoute which is white blushed light pink.
