Sewing and Crafts

I like to sew clothes for me and my two daughters. I also like to sew clothes for porcelain dolls, as well as make cloth dolls.

I have a Singer model 15-88 treadle sewing machine (see picture at right), which was purchased in 1948. This was the machine my wedding dress was sewn on.

My seven year old daughter just aquired my Singer model 66 sewing machine which was built on August 29, 1904. She is making a small cloth doll on it as I type this (February 11, 1997).

Well, it didn't take long for me to miss my old model 66, so I just purchased another for $5.00. This one was built on September 5, 1917. Unfortunately someone had painted it an ugly brown sometime in the past, but hey... it still sews great!

And now I've gone and done another dumb thing - purchased a 1920 Singer model 115 that I thought was a model 15 like my mom's. If anyone has a bobbin case for this thing, or any info on it, please email me. The part number for the bobbin case is 55651.

Early April, two more sewing machines followed me home - a model 66 purchased primarily because it came with some attachments and a Singer motor in excellent running order, and a model 99 because it came with the cute bentwood case.

Most of my sewing is done on a Kenmore 17860 .
